About Us
We Are Elk Mound Seed
Elk Mound Seed Company is a family owned and operated business that dates back as far as 1874. Being founded as a grain elevator in 1874, it was then known as Elk Mound Feed & Farm Supply. As the agricultural landscape in the Chippewa Valley changed in the 1980s, Elk Mound Feed & Farm Supply began to transition itself into Elk Mound Seed, as we know it today. We currently have a reach in all 50 US states, Puerto Rico, the Bahamas, as well as several Canadian provinces.Since our transition into primarily a seed company, Elk Mound Seed has expanded our offerings that have established us as one of the dominant full-line seed suppliers in the Upper Midwest. Throughout this transition, Elk Mound Seed has introduced several more product lines which includes wildflowers, native grasses, and products geared towards the wildlife enthusiast. We also offer custom blending which has helped us separate us from the rest of the industry.
Elk Mound Seed offers a wide variety of farm seeds and specializes in non-native seeds that are difficult to find. With a remodel in 2005 and 2017, the retail store now provides a larger display area for customers. Elk Mound Seed also added warehouse space in 2013 and again in 2020, giving us almost a half an acre of facilities.

I planted Elk Mound Round Up Ready Corn on May 1st, and I couldn’t be more impressed with how it turned out. After planting, I did two post-emergence sprays and spread some AMS to help it along. I kept the plot fenced off through July because of the heavy deer pressure in the area. We had a few nights where temperatures dropped and the corn got slightly stunted, but it bounced right back and continued growing like nothing happened. This stuff is absolutely amazing. The corn is now well over 8 feet tall, and the stalks are still standing strong. Most of the stalks have two ears, with quite a few producing three ears. For the amount of abuse this plot has taken from the weather and deer pressure, I’m extremely impressed with the results. I will definitely be planting Elk Mound Round Up Ready Corn again next year! Highly recommend giving it a shot if you’re looking for a great food plot corn.

Would like to follow up with a review. This corn was planted June 5th. Looks like it’s going to yield amazing.

Very short hybrid at about 4-5’ but so far appears to be yielding multiple ears per stalk.

This stuff ( clover blend ) is Extremely drought tolerant we had an extremely dry late spring and early summer . Until the skies opened up and dropped 8” on us in 48 hours . The deer are in it 24/7 . Can’t wait to drop the tender vitals and the fall fury and see how that works. Extremely happy and thanks again Chad you guys are the best!

Planted on 6/1/2026. 90 percent germination and it looks like it’s going to mature in a couple of weeks. I’m very pleased with the red Milo.

Decided to plant some and it came up strong. Too close together but we will see if the birds get anything out of it.

Easy order and quick shipping. Every seed planted germinated but I lost a couple due to soil erosion but very happy with everything. My daughter wanted to plant some honey badger corn so i delayed my planting so they wouldnt cross polinate or it would be taller. Will order some more next year.

So far so good. It is dry here but I haul water and use gravity and hose. Cobs are beginning to form.

2026 is my best crop ever. i Limited my crow damage by finally investing in a planter which consistently put the seed at the proper depth. Timely rain and a quality seed makes such a difference!

Elk Mound Seed is a great place to purchase quality sweet corn seed. I’ve never had a problem with ordering, shipping, or delivery. The four rows to the right in the photos are recently purchased Revision seed. Germination for the Revision was practically 100 percent. We picked the first batch on Sunday, July 5th. It was incredibly sweet. Our friends and family loved it. I only plant GM corn seed. It’s the future, so get used to it. No pests and little maintenance.

Good germination rate and growing fast! I hope the ducks like it!

All of my birds love Elk Mound Seed roasted peanut pickouts. This pic shows a red-bellied woodpecker and a robin side by side enjoying peanuts. That's actually all those two species will eat at my feeder. They have no interest in the other seeds.

I planted five rows earlier in the season and five rows a little bit later Works out so that I can have corn for a little bit longer

Germination was a very high percentage and has been very easy to maintain. We are currently in a drought with high heat. This weather is taking a toll on the plants during production time. Only time will tell how well it handles this weather and finishes out.

It popped out of the ground and is absolutely killing it. I’m going to spray it for the first time this week. It’s not as sweet as our other corn, but in terms of growth and emergence, it’s been outstanding.

We have feeders with peanuts, sunflower seeds, safflower seeds, and white millet. The peanuts are usually the first to run out. All of the birds love them. Birds like Robins, bluebirds, and brown thrashers. Used to stay on the ground looking for worms and bugs. Now they come for the peanuts. I think they can sanse the protein content.

This is an excellent bean for a food plot

Pretty good overall. Had fairly even emergence and it’s growing great and looks beautiful. It’s planted next to a field of regular corn and I can barely tell the difference between the two. Excited to try some once it’s ready
