Stiff Goldenrod Seed (Solidago rigida)
Stiff Goldenrod, also known as Rigid Goldenrod, is a native perennial found in prairies, meadows, and open woodlands across the Midwestern and east-central United States, extending into south-central Canada. Unlike many other goldenrods, it does not spread by rhizomes, forming upright clumps that make it ideal for landscape use, conservation projects, and pollinator gardens. It grows 3–5 feet tall and produces dense, flat-topped clusters of bright yellow flowers from late summer into fall. These blooms attract a wide range of pollinators, including honey bees, native bees, wasps, beetles, and flies, providing valuable late-season nectar. Rigid Goldenrod thrives in full sun and tolerates dry to moderately moist soils, pairing beautifully with late-blooming purple asters for striking fall color.
