Partridge Pea Seed (Chamaecrista fasciculata)
Partridge Pea is a native annual legume found throughout the central and eastern United States. It produces bright yellow blooms from summer into early fall, attracting bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. The plant serves as a host for several sulphur butterfly species and features petiolar nectaries that attract sweat bees, wasps, flies, and ants. Highly valued in wildlife and conservation plantings, Partridge Pea provides excellent cover for gamebirds, forage for deer, and seeds that are eaten by both songbirds and upland gamebirds. It thrives in full sun and performs best in lean, dry soils while enriching the ground through nitrogen fixation.
